so! a mere day after complaining that i wasn't actually reading any x-men: first class fic i got my mojo together and read a whole bunch. then i wrote a drabble, because drabbles are awesome.

x-men: first class; erik/charles; g
100 words
post-movie but not really spoilery if you're familiar with their powers. cut text from "metal heart" by garbage. unbeta'd. these are not my characters.
Erik thinks about Charles, then pushes it away, even as he wonders if it’s that easy for Charles. Can he shut down the unwanted parts of his mind as easily as he can reopen the lost ones? Erik tries it himself, building metal walls around words, images, and then pushes them closer and closer, until there’s no space for the thoughts to breathe, and he smiles with relief.
He’s safe for a moment, and then the storm behind the wall rages, battering the supports to nothing, sending everything flooding out, so he grimly sets his teeth, and begins to rebuild.
